Eden of Coronet: the world's most expensive guitar is coming to Abu Dhabi
The guitar is estimated to be worth $2 million (Dh7.34m) and is covered in over 11,000 diamonds
The world’s most expensive guitar is coming back to Abu Dhabi.
Covered in over 11,441 diamonds, the $2 million (Dh7.34m) guitar will be on display at the Jewellery and Watch Show (JWS) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from Saturday, October 26 to Wednesday, October 30.
Known as the Eden of Coronet, the Gibson SG guitar is adorned with more than 400 carat diamonds and about 1.6 kilograms of 18K gold. It currently holds the office Guinness World Record for being the world’s most valuable guitar.
To create the impressive piece, Gibson teamed up with jewellery designer Aaron Shum and musician and designer Mark Lui. It was created by 68 artisans and took 700 man days to complete.
Even though the guitar is covered in diamonds, it is still fully playable as shown in the video below:
The Jewellery and Watch Show has been held annually in Abu Dhabi and features regional and international jewellers displaying their precious creations at the event.
"We try to display striking items at JWS each year and the world's most valuable guitar does just that. Visitors can enjoy the guitar not only for its extravagance but also be in awe of its functional use for musicians,” said JWS event manager Mohamad Meheiddine.
This isn’t the first time the guitar has been in the capital. It was last on display at Marina Mall in 2015.
