September is set to be an exciting month for timepiece enthusiasts, with Tag Heuer set to launch its worldwide exhibition, Heuer Globetrotter.
The exhibition will run simultaneously from September 16 to 30, in Tag Heuer boutiques in 10 cities globally, thanks to a collaboration between the Swiss watchmaker's archive in La Chaux-de-Fonds and private collectors.
With a history spanning back to 1860, Tag Heuer is justifiably proud of its contribution to timekeeping. From pocket watches to today’s state-of-the-art complications, the company has helped refine accuracy and has played a role in fields as diverse as sports, motoring and communications.
The exhibition will display more than 400 Tag watches, many of which have been specially borrowed by long-time collectors. Each city has its own theme, and the watches have been selected in conjunction with a key collector in each region.
Dubai is one of the cities that has been chosen and, fittingly, the theme will explore sailing and diving through Tag watches. The centrepiece will be a Seafarer or Maréograph from 1950, which was the world's first chronograph with tide indicators.
The other cities and themes include: Paris, which will showcase classic Heuer watches; Geneva, which will display major inventions; Munich, which will focus on watches for the military; Venice and Hong Kong, which will show the pieces influenced by motoring; Sydney, which will study multi-sports; Tokyo, which will look at the history of watchmaking design; and Miami, which will focus on contemporary design.
Speaking ahead of the event, Jack Heuer, the company's honorary chairman, said: "I am overwhelmed about what is happening to the old Heuer and Tag Heuer brand. I am truly very thankful to find the rich heritage of this brand so brilliantly and professionally translated to write a bright future"
