The Hot List: interior blasts from the past
The mid-20th century design revival continues with the rather surprising arrival at Ikea of this traditional looking high-backed wing chair. It's called Standmon and it is an updated version of the MK, an early Ikea classic from 1951. As affordable as it is comfortable and in autumn's key shade of pewter grey, it is the perfect place to curl up with a book.

Let's do lunch
Belle and Boo is an award-winning British brand specialising in children's gifts, accessories and clothing featuring nostalgic storybook-style illustrations. Our favourite find is this delightful vintage-style tin lunch box depicting an old-fashioned pirate picnic - just the thing for banishing back to school blues.

If you don't already know, Crate & Barrel stocks a selection of homeware by the hugely influential Finnish brand Marimekko. The new autumn/winter collection includes this bedding set in its dove grey Botna fabric. Matching curtains are also available.

Who said wall stickers should be all birds and butterflies? This collection of vintage cars comes in a suitably cool retro colour scheme that will liven up a kid's room in style. The fabric stickers are removable and reusable and won't damage your walls. (Sheet size is 420 by 550 millimetres.)
Play for keeps
When you pay a lot for a scented candle, throwing away the attractive container when the wax is used up can be a little galling. With this in mind, the luxury French candlemaker Esteban has a range of refillable vegetable wax candles in 11 scents, ranging from the delicate floral White Orchid to the woody, peppery notes of Jathikai, each one housed in a pretty container to keep.
