1. Cotton coup

The Majlis Gallery in Dubai is launching a collection of high-quality Egyptian cottons and linens for the home. The cotton fabric is sourced from villages in the Nile Delta with age-old weaving traditions, while the linen is also secured from specialised sources in Egypt. Traditional handicrafting techniques are combined with modern designs to create products that should last a lifetime. Many of the items can be made to order.

2. Turner's tea things

Brand-new from British designer Hannah Turner is a stylish and fun collection of bird-themed ceramic teapots, jugs and mugs. There are two key designs, Birdlife and Owl, but the latter is our favourite. With its big beady eyes and beak-shaped spout, this teapot is bound to brighten up any breakfast table.

3. Nautical but nice

With the gift-buying season looming, there's no better time to start making ethical purchases. We love Fairwind's collection of handmade, fair trade products, which are made by skilled artisans in the developing world. We're coveting this colourful, nautical-themed scatter cushion, which is inspired by the work of Austrian artist Gustav Klimt and hand-stitched in Kashmir.

4. Rave about rugs

Kelly Wearstler, dubbed the "grande dame of West Coast interior design", has added three new designs to her collection for The Rug Company. Serpent is a dramatic, graphic twist on the classic snakeskin motif; Chromagraph embraces neutral tones and a linear design; and Ombre explores the tonal variations of a sunset palette. The rugs are hand-knotted in Nepal, using the finest Tibetan wool yarns.

5. Peas pleasure

We're delighted to hear that Peas in a Pod has extended its collection of quirky 3D artwork. In addition to the company's signature rows of cut-out camels, there are now pieces featuring stag heads, Union Jack Minis, chickens and phone boxes, as well as the hand of Fatima. Every piece is lovingly hand-crafted in the Peas in a Pod studio by Dubai-based artists Ness Ashford and Rachael Sinclair.

Fatima's Hands, Dh285 for the small version (25cm by 25cm) and Dh585 for the medium version (50cm by 50cm). Available from Gallery One, www.mylist.ae and the Peas in a Pod studio in Tecom, Dubai, www.peasinapod.ae
