The Hot List: candles and squashy chairs give a homely feel

Inject some style into your space with these inspiring design finds.

French fancies

There's a reason why Hermès isn't widely known for its furniture. It's almost exclusively made to order and on display in only a handful of the iconic luxury brand's most exclusive boutiques around the world. It's quite remarkable then to find a full-room set on show at Hermès' very spacious new store in Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi, where you can see, feel and swoon at the supreme quality of pieces such as this 1920s club chair by Jean-Michel Frank, covered, of course, in the classic soft buttery calf leather the house is synonymous with. If you're a fan of classic design and some of the best craftsmanship (a lot of) money can buy, this is where you need to go.

Mini throne

Little ones can celebrate the Queen's Jubilee in style, perched on this Union Jack chair from the Dubai-based Bubs Boutique. There's a more traditional red, white and blue version, too, but we prefer the hot pink, which can also be personalised for that extra wow factor.

Magic touch

Wallcravings in Dubai has a number of new vinyl wallsticker designs on offer. We love the cutesy Magical Birdies and nautical-themed We Are Sailing Boats, which would both look great in a children's room or nursery.

The smell of success

La Vela has extended its range of scented soywax candles to include two new fragrance combinations, Lavender & Cucumber and Vanilla Sweetpea. The new candles weigh 240g and have a burn time of 50 to 60 hours. The Dubai-based La Vela now offers more than 20 different fragrance options, ranging from the locally inspired Arabian Adventures, a mix of frankincense and myrrh, to the tongue-in-cheek Jumeirah Jane, a combination of mimosa and mandarin.
