A raft of new products is now available at the Bahrain-based virtual homeware store Boxed, including these neat hand-knit ottomans by Bobble Knit.

Available in a range of vibrant colours, including hot pink, apple green, mustard, teal and turquoise, the ottomans are made from a triple strand of 100 per cent acrylic yarn. For an even more unusual take on the traditional ottoman, check out the ones by Nanahome in the Netherlands, knitted in the zpaggeti style, which uses a yarn made of offcuts from new fashion garments. The high-quality cotton yarn comes in a range of colours.

Also new on Boxed is a collection of lampshades by the UK-based designer Guillaume Lyons, the founder of Kaigami. Inspired by the ancient eastern art of origami as well as the very modern western phenomenon of "flat packing", the Kaigami lampshades are made out of translucent polypropylene and resemble unusual life forms from an alternative universe. We particularly love Nautica, a flowing, irregularly shaped lamp that takes its inspiration from the depths of the ocean.

The new cotton aprons and totes by Brennan and Brennan have also caught our eye. They are hand-dyed and hand-printed and come in a range of pretty pastel colours.
