Home Shopping: Vintage, ecofriendly accessories at Bottle Green Homes
The photographer's agent Kate Green studied art and grew up with a passion for vintage home accessories. A few years ago, she started a small online boutique called Bottle Green Homes, stocking a selection of antique finds and designer buys. The website was an instant hit and her customer base and stock slowly grew until, six weeks ago, she left her day job to run the business full-time.
Recent additions to the range include Kate's own vintage-inspired designs. There are tea towels and mugs featuring retro milk bottle labels, and there are plans to stock upcycled furniture soon, including some stunning armchairs made by Kate.
The name of the shop is a bit of a giveaway, but it's impossible not to mention the wonderful array of vintage glass bottles. The different shapes, sizes, ages and colours look beautiful lined up on a windowsill filled with fresh flowers.
For Christmas, Kate has sourced some gorgeous glass baubles in a rainbow of colours. You can buy them by the box - perfect if you want to make your tree stand out and give your festive decor some nostalgic charm.
This is a great place to shop for gifts, too. I like the look of the luxurious candles with intriguing scents such as black tea and cracked pepper, and raspberry and quince. Yum. There are gloves, scarves, notebooks and bags, too, all carefully selected from small designer-makers.
Before you log off, don't miss the eco slate-style placemats and napkin rings. Made from recycled vending machine coffee cups, they're just like slate and can be written on with chalk so you can label guests' places at the table.
