How to save yourself from scrubbing cooking pans.

This is one of those “why didn’t I think of that before?” tips, which you will be grateful for every time you cook and don’t have to scrub afterwards. Just line the cooking tin with non-stick baking paper before using it. Get in the habit of doing it every time, whatever you’re cooking. Roast potatoes, fish fingers, roast meat, cookies – anything and everything. It doesn’t affect the cooking but will save hours of scrubbing.
If you’ve got a dishwasher, always make sure it is completely empty before guests arrive, so that you can just throw all the pans, dirty plates, glasses, cutlery and anything else straight in once everyone has gone. It makes clearing up a cinch. Simply turn on the machine and you’ll wake up to a clean kitchen.
Let the microwave clean itself. Squeeze the juice of a lemon into a bowl and add an equal quantity of water. Microwave on full power for five minutes. The steam will rehydrate any hardened food deposits, so a quick wipe with a damp cloth is all that is needed.
Likewise, half a lemon will also get rid of odours if you’ve microwaved something stinky. Phew!
