If you don’t have time to do a full clean but need to get your house in order quickly, try some of our favourite shortcuts.
If you need to remove cat hair from your sofa, put on a pair of rubber gloves, wet them slightly and then rub your hand across the affected area. The hair will automatically lift and stick to the glove. Balloons will have a similar effect, but you may not have quite as many of those lying around.
If you need to freshen up clothes but can’t wash them immediately, sprinkle some baking soda directly on to them and leave to air. This will remove any unwanted odours, at least temporarily.
A quick way to give your stainless steel appliances a nice shine is to wipe them with olive oil. Just dab a spot of oil onto a soft cloth, wipe it over your appliances and then buff with a dry cloth.
If you’ve run out of scented candles but want to keep your home smelling sweet, try these two easy tricks. Dab a couple of drops of your favourite scented oil onto your light bulbs. The heat from the bulb will release the aromas. Otherwise, fill a porous ceramic jar with essential oils and leave it near a sunny window. Again, the heat will release the scent, keeping your home smelling fresh.
