Use a map from a holiday trip to make a memento.

This is a cute way to remember holidays. Just bring back a map of the area - as used and ragged as you like - and cut a shape out of it. The free maps that come with car hire or from the tourist office are ideal. Go for any shape you like - a star, square, circle or butterfly are all great. Cookie cutters are very handy to use as templates. Use a little double-sided tape to fix the cut-out to a paper or card background to fit your frame. Write the date - either on the paper or the back of the frame - and hang. These look fantastic grouped together.

On the subject of holiday mementoes, another lovely way to remember a special holiday is to make fridge magnets from the treasures you've combed from the beach. I love nothing better than to trawl along the sand aimlessly, collecting pretty shells, stones, coral and driftwood as I go. Pick out the prettiest piece and glue little magnets on the back so they can be stuck on the fridge to hold photographs or notes.
