Treat yourself to a scary Halloween makeover

Halloween is just a few days away and for those who are set to go all out and get spooky for the occasion, there’s a beauty lounge in Dubai that may be able to help you to take things to a new level. Until Tuesday, Queens Beauty Lounge, which has branches in JLT and Dubai Marina, is offering customers and children under the age of 12 a special Halloween makeover. Customers can choose from a selection of “spooktacular makeovers” that include elaborate hair styles, frightful make-up and creative nail art. Bring your own inspiration or have the team take over to recreate looks that are sure to scare your party guests or neighbours. For adults, any two services will cost Dh150, while for children you’re up for Dh100 a pop. Check out www.queensbeautylounge.com

Straight from the pumpkin patch, a seasonal mocktail

The end of the month is nearing, but there are still a few days left to try the Four Seasons Hotel Abu Dhabi’s featured ingredient for October – pumpkin. The hotel has surprised us with a tasty mocktail at Italian restaurant Cafe Milano. A combination of pumpkin purée, cinnamon and star anise infused syrup, plus ginger ale, the bubbly Pumpkin Bellini served in a champagne glass is an unexpectedly delightful marriage of flavours. Try it for Dh40, www.cafemilano.ae

Festival of Korean culture ‘in motion’ returns to UAE

Get some K-Culture with a kimchi masterclass

The Korea Festival is back for another year, bringing plenty of fun things to do in the capital over the next month, starting this weekend. This year’s event, which began on Wednesday, features performances themed toward “K-Culture in Motion” and includes educational and sporting competitions. We think the Kimchi Masterclass food experience sounds the most fun. The festival is free, for more on the programme which runs until November 25 go to www.KoreaFestivalUAE.com

A return to the classics

Vasco’s restaurant at the Hilton Abu Dhabi offers one of the nicest views on the Corniche, and with the cooler weather creeping in, it’s a great choice for alfresco dining. We think it’s great that the team has decided to reinstate some of its customers’ most popular dishes onto their nautically inspired international menu. Returning favourites include seafood salad, wild mushroom ravioli and African harissa and apricot braised lamb shank. Check out www.abudhabi.hilton.com
