Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP catches it again

The actress Gwyneth Paltrow is being teased about her lifestyle publication, GOOP - not for the first time.

Gwyneth Paltrow has found herself being teased once again, thanks to her newsletter, GOOP, the latest issue of which saw the Oscar winner recommending a pair of children's pyjamas that cost US$82 (Dh301). Here are five more instances of GOOP-related ridicule:

Take five... All in a name

Even before Paltrow had sent out the first edition of her lifestyle newsletter, the media began picking it apart. The name and the tagline - "Nourish your inner aspect" - came in for particular kickings.

Take four… Hygiene

A 2009 GOOP video recipe attracted the ire of food-safety campaigners, who were horrified to see Paltrow handling raw chicken and then making a salad without washing her hands in between.

Take three… Friends

GOOP has often come under fire for giving disproportionate weight to the musings of Paltrow's celebrity pals. In early 2009, for instance, a "recommended reading" list sought the advice of such literary heavyweights as Madonna and Christy Turlington.

Take two… TMI

There is no harm in sharing healthy eating habits; but telling the world in graphic detail the side effects of a detox, as Paltrow kindly did in a past GOOP newsletter, did not sit well with the global media.

Take one… Staying power

Recently, Paltrow explained that she had been on the verge of pulling the plug on GOOP but had a change of heart. "I was in Italy once, and this old man came up to me and said, 'I had the best time in Nashville because of GOOP.' And that is so worth it to me," she told Harper's Bazaar UK.
