So you love Zuma because you know a meal there, whether it is Abu Dhabi or Dubai (or London, Bangkok, Miami, Hong Kong, Istanbul and soon - New York) offers great contemporary Japanese cuisine, just the right setting and flawless service. But does it leap to mind as centre of excellence when it comes to dessert? It most definitely should.

During a tasting for media last week at the new Abu Dhabi Al Maryah island location, overlooking calm Gulf waters in The Galleria, Sowwah Square, guests were wowed with all you would expect from Zuma. Among the dishes were the signature black cod, succulent seared beef with soy, ginger, lime and coriander and chilly, slick sashimi. But then came dessert, and it knocked our socks off. A boatful of wonders offered included a thin slab of Yuzu cheesecake that was firm, tart and creamy; a yoghurt cake, tangy, sprightly and light, and a chocolate caramel fondant.

So save a little room next time you visit Zuma for something sweet. You will be very happy you did.
