Earlier this week, American musician and producer Akon informed his 6.36 million Twitter followers and 45.35 million Facebook followers to drop by White Beach Club at Atlantis The Palm, and “ask for the Akon sundae special”.
Indeed, for Dh295 a pop, you can dig into a larger-than-life dessert named after the singer. The Akon sundae comes with a kilogram of vanilla ice cream, plus chocolate, Baileys brownies, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, hazelnuts and double cream.

Akon has been flying in and out of the UAE for a few weeks now; not only was he at the Atlantis earlier this week, he also attended the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Festival and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November, and performed at Drai Dubai.
White, which opened on Saturday, November 23, sports an impressive infinity pool with in-water sun loungers, white and turquoise cabanas and a Mediterranean restaurant serving fresh seafood, salads and pizzas. Chef de cuisine Ibrahim Ata says: "I think ice cream is the perfect way to make a great day even better. I wanted our guests to be able to end their White dining experience with something unforgettable and what better way to do this than with a kilo of ice cream? An experience at White Beach is all about celebration."

Hot Doug’s in Chicago served a hot dog named after actress Salma Hayek; fittingly, it comprises a super-spicy smoked sausage.
The LDC
The Leonardo DiCaprio sandwich at Lioni Italian restaurant in New York comes with fried eggplant, roast beef, fresh mozzarella, white American cheese, bruschetta, sun-dried tomatoes, stuffed peppers and balsamic vinegar. The eatery also has sandwiches named after Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese and Sylvester Stallone.
Souffle Diana
Created by D&D London, the goat’s cheese souffle with mustard ice cream is named after Princess Diana, who was a patron of what used to be Launceston Place in Kensington.
Saint and Nori Shakes
Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream in Manhattan has a menu of Yeezy-inspired desserts and hosts an annual Kanye West ice cream week. West and Kim Kardashian’s kids, Saint and Nori, meanwhile, are on the menu under gourmet milkshakes.
