UAE food news: Vegan fine-dining menus, new openings and meaty masterclasses
Learn how to make the perfect beef Wellington this month, as well as visit three new restaurants in Abu Dhabi's Nation Towers
Cavalli Club Restaurant & Lounge is raising the bar for fine-dining vegan food in the UAE with the launch of its new menu filled with gourmet plant-based dishes that may well appeal to meat eaters, too. Starters include quinoa salad; pan-seared tofu with roasted capsicum; crushed edamame with avocado cream; and a selection of vegan sushi. Three mains take centre stage – porcini mushroom pizza with boiled potatoes, vegan mozzarella and truffle paste; gratinated grilled zucchini with panzanella salad, vegan mozzarella and breadcrumbs; and roasted capsicum stuffed with mixed vegetables, tomato coulis and melted vegan cheese. A strawberry sorbet topped with muesli or a fresh fruit platter will end things on a sweet note. Even sweeter, UAE residents can get 30 per cent off the food bill until the end of February upon presenting their Emirates ID.
Three dining venues open in Nation Towers Abu Dhabi
Nation Towers Abu Dhabi welcomes a trio of new restaurants into its bustling portfolio. Poke San, Mado and Blu Chocolate were selected to ensure there’s something for every diner. The first focuses on casual dining and healthy offerings by giving the classic Hawaiian poke bowl a modern twist. The menu is based on a build-your-own-meal concept, with options for dine-in or grab and go. Meanwhile, Mado, which has more than 300 stores in Turkey and around the world, makes its Abu Dhabi debut with much-loved delicacies such as Turkish tabbouleh, dolama and baklava. Finally, Blu Chocolate offers artisan chocolates made from six types of beans, with varieties such as classic cocoa, caramel and stuffed dates.
Savour a new burrata dish at Bistrot Bagatelle
The much-loved cheese, made from mozzarella, has become something of a UAE restaurant staple, typically served straight up with tomatoes. The team behind Dubai’s French-Mediterranean cafe Bistrot Bagatelle are going one step beyond by introducing a delicious burrata spin-off. Head chef Dave Fitzsimmons has created the Burrata Truffee, which accentuates the delicious flavour of fresh burrata with a truffle dressing. The Dh95 dish is served with roasted quince and apple, and cranberry and hazelnut bread.
