Taste of Abu Dhabi, which celebrates its fifth anniversary this year, will return to the Du Arena on Yas Island, from November 8 to 10. Bite-sized dishes, celebrity chefs and live entertainment aside, the event will also host a farmers’ market this year, in collaboration with Local Harvest, a brand under the Abu Dhabi Farmers’ Services Centre (ADFSC).

This means that you can sample and shop for fresh produce cultivated in farms in Abu Dhabi. You’ll also be able to meet the farmers and find out first-hand about the vast range of vegetables, fruit, meat and eggs locally grown in the UAE.

Dhafer Rashed Al Qasemi, commercial and operations director of Abu Dhabi Farmers’ Service Centre, says: “We want to inspire creative cooking [based on] knowledge of the fresh, safe and local produce available from our farms in Abu Dhabi. We look forward to our farmers sharing their passion for fresh produce with the local community. We will also host a special activity for kids with Local Harvest experts, who will help them plant their very own vegetable seeds to take home and watch them grow.”

In addition to bringing freshly cultivated produce to consumers, ADFSC is also educating farmers on the importance of supplying the market with high-quality, fresh and tasty produce. “We are opening up new marketing channels for local farmers, so the people of Abu Dhabi have the opportunity to taste vegetables within 24 hours of their being harvested, assuring freshness and locking in vital nutrients.” Al Qasemi adds.
