Sukaina Rajabali: Sips and Spoonfuls
Name: Sukaina RajabaliBlog: Sips and Spoonfuls
Camera: Canon 550D with a Canon 24-70 mm 2.8. “I find this lens very versatile for tight spaces when shooting food but it’s also great for lifestyle shots. Its ability to capture color is phenomenal.”
Dream kit: “The Canon Mark III is on my wish list as I’ve been wanting to upgrade to a full frame camera for a while now”
Time spent on the average blog post:“It generally takes me at least a week to develop a blog post. Before even cooking, I think about the colors and textures of what I will make and what props to pair it with. I make a few drawing of potential set ups. I then photograph the raw ingredients before cooking and styling the final recipe. Once I take shots of the final recipe, I like to sometimes dig in to the food and style and photograph the food in its semi eaten form as well. The photos are then edited after which the process of writing the post and recipe begin. All in all, it can take me up to a week to finish a post, if not more! The actual photography is probably 1-2 hours.”
The importance of photos on a food blog: “I think photos are extremely important. After all we eat with our eyes first and it certainly grabs a reader’s attention. Even when I read a food magazine or cookbook, my first flip through always concentrates on the photos exclusively. I then go back and bookmark recipes depending on which photos appealed. Generally, if a recipe doesn’t have a photo attached, more than likely I wouldn’t cook it as I like to know what the finished products should look like.
