The beloved modern Turkish restaurant Ruya Dubai is closed and will be moving to a new location, its executive chef Colin Clague said in an Instagram post on Saturday.

The Dubai Marina hot spot opened almost four years ago at Grosvenor House, but now, its stylish furniture and chic decor is all packed up and ready to move to a new location come summer.

"Well, rather emotional, all packed up at Ruya in the GH, it’s been a fantastic journey together over the last three and a half years," Clague wrote. "It’s been brilliant."

He said the restaurant will reopen after the summer and he will be spending the next few months "creating new dishes".

"Look forward to seeing you all there," he said.

Ruya Dubai is known for its sophisticated ambience and panoramic views of Dubai Marina. The chefs offer a modern take on age-old Turkish recipes, with some of its most popular dishes being lamb cutlets with smoked eggplant, marinated baby chicken with pastry-wrapped rice pilaf, and the two-cheese pide with slow-cooked egg and home-made pastirma or sujuk.

There are no details available yet about the new location or how the restaurant might change its offerings, although The National has reached out for a comment.

There is a second branch of the restaurant in Mayfair, London, which is also closed because of the coronavirus crisis.

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Ruya London will be closed until further notice," said a post on Instagram from Wednesday, March 18.

"Our main priority is the safety and health of both our team and clients, and as such we have had to make this very difficult decision. We look forward to seeing you again when we reopen."
