Fancy a good meal by the pool as the weather cools down? Well, Dubai has a fancy new destination that offers exactly that.

Sal, a restaurant and lounge at Burj Al Arab, opened on Sunday. It is on the terrace of the world-famous hotel, giving guests views over its 100-metre infinity pool overlooking the Arabian Gulf.

With white, breezy interiors, Sal is designed to be a venue where “barefoot luxury meets Southern European culinary excellence”. The dress code is casual by day and resort wear by night, to play into the laid-back theme.

Launched by Chef Roberto Rispoli, Head Chef of Shimmers on the Beach, the restaurant will offer flavours from the Iberian Peninsula. "Sal" means "salt" in Spanish and Portuguese and guests can expect dishes that pay tribute to seafood, with the option to have the catch of the day grilled or baked in sea salt.

Also on the menu are dishes designed for sharing, such as the prawns in roasted tomato sauce or wild crab. Signature mains including homemade trenette pasta and king crab, seabream isolana and sea-salt-crusted seabass.

Those with a sweet tooth can pick between options from the dessert trolley, featuring a handcrafted selection of treats from Burj Al Arab’s pastry chefs.

A two-course meal at Sal starts from Dh110. However, those looking to make a day of it can always opt for its pool and terrace packages. Daytime pool and terrace access prices start at Dh450 per person (with Dh300 in food and beverage credit at the restaurant) or Dh800 for a couple (with Dh600 in food and beverage credit).

Guests looking to cool down can take a dip in its two pools, including the infinity pool that appears to blend into the sea. You can also lounge in an air-conditioned cabana or reserve one of the terrace sunbeds for uninterrupted water views.

Individual pool and terrace access available on request.

Sal is accessible from the front entrance of Burj Al Arab via a buggy. For more information, guests can visit www.jumeirah.com/en/dine/dubai/burj-al-arab-sal, email restaurants@jumeirah.com or call 04 432 3232
