French food and culture festival returns to Dubai

The fourth edition of Apéritif à la Française offers foodies a first-hand chance to try and buy authentic French ingredients and dishes brought to the UAE by leading exporters, some of which have been around since the 19th century.

These include: goat cheese by Soignon; milk products by Régilait; mustard and vinegar from Maille; and dairy products from Brittany-based specialist Paysan Breton. Visitors can also sample traditional pastries such as crêpe suzette, macarons and millefeuille, from French Bakery and La Pâtisserie des Rêves.

The day-long event will also include grape tastings, live music from French bands, dedicated children’s play and activity areas and a cartoonist, as well as accessories from the newly opened home decor store Maisons du Monde.

The event is organised by lifestyle marketing group Sopexa and supported by the French Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. Launched in 2004, Apéritif à la Française takes place in five cities around the world: Tokyo, Copenhagen, Montreal, Hong Kong and Dubai. This year’s event is on November 18 from noon to 10pm, at the Westin Mina Seyahi Beach Resort in Dubai. Entry is free, while food and drink prices start from Dh15.
