From sweet treats to sky-high dinners, here’s what’s new on the UAE’s food scene this week.

Dine on a helipad at St Regis Abu Dhabi

For thrill-seekers or those looking for a unique dining experience, The St Regis Abu Dhabi will host a special sunset supper from 4.30pm to 7pm on Friday, January 29.

The event, open to 20 guests, will take place at the hotel's helipad, located a whopping 255 metres above ground, guaranteeing panoramic views of the city, Qasr Al Watan and the Arabian Gulf. A private lift will take guests to the location, where a paired menu with canapes, international cheeses and other finger-food-style hors d'oeuvres await, followed by a selection of desserts.

The experience is priced at Dh750 and can be booked by calling 02 694 4444. Guests are requested to arrive by 4pm for the check-in process.

Sugargram offers Friends-themed cupcakes

Sugargram already had bite-sized cupcakes down pat; now it’s taking the guilt-free-dessert theme a step further with the launch of a gluten-free range.

The three new flavours are all made using gluten-free flour, and named after characters from the hit sitcom Friends. Dig into the Moni-coco Gellar, a classic chocolate cupcake with a swirl of chocolate icing; Red-chel Green, a red velvet creation with a thick layer of cream cheese frosting; and Phoebe Nutt-ay, a toffee nut cupcake with butterscotch toffee.

A box of 25 goes for Dh135 (and makes for a sweet gift for your coeliac or gluten-sensitive friends), and there are also mini boxes of five cupcakes available for Dh35. Sugargram delivers across Dubai through Deliveroo and Chatfoot, and in Sharjah through Deliveroo.

Additions include a taco bridge with battered fried fish served with Asian slaw or crushed avocado, mango salsa and lime aioli; and a burger sampler for those who can't make up their minds between chicken, beef, lamb and veggie patties.

Citing increased demand, the restaurant has also introduced an all-vegan section, featuring everything from plant-based patties and pastas to a vegan sausage, wrap and falafel sliders.
