Healthy camel options

Fancy a scoop of ice cream with extra nutrients or a burger lower in cholesterol than the average beef patty? At the Fanr restaurant at Manarat Al Saadiyat, the chef Simon Barber has added to the menu camel-milk ice cream (flavours include cherry and hazelnut) and a camel burger served with sweet potato fries and ratatouille relish. It's worth noting that until the end of this month, children under the age of 6 eat for free.

Sofitel to launch La Mer

September 1 sees the launch of La Mer at the Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche. An elegant French-style seafood restaurant, signature dishes include oyster cream soup with warm goat's cheese croutons and open scallop ravioli with ginger and saffron sauce. The restaurant will also hold Prawn Nights every Monday (set menu Dh260). On the first Tuesday of every month, it will be laying on a seafood buffet priced at Dh220 per person.

Burgers and dogs with a twist

Burger Rebels, a chain due to open in Wafi City on September 19, claims it will be offering a "culinary rebellion against the conventional, reinventing the common burger, slider and hot dog by giving them a 21st-century makeover with a rock 'n' roll edge". To do so, it will be serving up unusual burger combinations - how does foie gras or beef tongue sound? - and offering hot dogs made from venison, rabbit, duck and fish.

Raffles anniversary food

To mark the 125th anniversary of the first Raffles hotel in Singapore on September 16, Raffles Dubai is adding some nostalgic dishes to its Friday brunch menu. Over the next year, it will be roasting haunches of mutton and lamb and offering up lesser-used cuts of meat such as lamb neck and beef shin as well as giving guests the chance to try rabbit, goat and offal.
