Food bites: New Cheesecake Factory
New Cheesecake Factory branch to open
Fans of The Cheesecake Factory take note; the second outlet of the popular American chain restaurant is due to open at Mall of the Emirates on December 31. The restaurant, which is known for its big menu, even bigger portions and, of course, its cheesecake, has proved hugely popular at The Dubai Mall, so be prepared to queue.
Cheap deals at Taste Initiative in Dubai
The Taste Initiative, the cafe within The Change Initiative on Sheikh Zayed Road, has some reasonably priced deals on at the moment. The “Morning Kickstart” (eggs on toast with hollandaise, grilled tomato and a cup of tea or coffee) is Dh19 and at lunchtime, a sandwich and fresh juice will set you back Dh30.
Business lunch menus at Etihad Towers
Jumeirah at Etihad Towers has recently launched business lunch menus at three of its restaurants. Brasserie Angélique offers three courses of French classics for Dh130 per person, Tori No Su’s menu (also Dh130) includes sashimi and a tempura platter and at Quest, you can try dishes such as mock scallops and tofu cheesecake (Dh160 per person). The menu is available from 12pm to 3.30pm, Sunday to Thursday.
Eat al fresco at Park Hyatt
It’s the perfect time of year for eating outdoors and The Terrace at the Park Hyatt Dubai is a great place for doing so. At Dh190 (food and soft drinks), its Saturday brunch is also really well priced; start off by choosing from a great selection of cold cuts, salad and cheeses before heading to the BBQ, where you’ll find salmon, jumbo squid and beef parrilladas, among other items. Rare at Desert Palm does classics with a twist
Rare, the European-style grill restaurant at the Desert Palm by Per Aquum on Al Awir road, has a new, updated menu. The chef Steven Vanduyn has decided to give a few classic dishes a twist – think salmon tartare with white balsamic jelly and smoked provola cheese with foie gras ice cream and cucumber sorbet. Also, there’s still plenty of steak on the menu.
