Food menu at Mahiki
Despite what you may think, there's more on offer at Mahiki than just fruity cocktails and the opportunity to dance in a tropical tiki-decked room. You can, thanks to a recently launched Polynesian-inspired food menu, also eat there. Dishes are served from Monday to Saturday from 7pm and options include truffle-egg toast, various sliders and fritto misto. Light bites at Lounge 44
When it's hot outside, eating hearty, heavy food just doesn't seem quite right, which is perhaps why the new crudo bar menu at Lounge 44, Embassy Dubai sounds particularly appealing right now. In addition to a selection of oysters and caviar from the Caspian Sea, dishes from the head chef Maxime Le Van include scallop carpaccio with pomegranate, lobster with spicy mango salad and king crab with truffle bisque. Aquarium summer deals
From now until September 30, there are some pretty decent bargains to be had at Aquarium, the seafood restaurant at Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club. Their summer sizzler package allows guests to order a three-course meal and pay only for the main course. Prices start at Dh145 and include the Aquarium seafood platter pictured. New chef at Blue Grill
Blue Grill, the signature restaurant at the Yas Island Rotana, has a new speciality chef in the form of Zlatko Gersak. The Croatian-born chef has worked for a number of different international hotel chains and says that he is looking forward to making his mark on the restaurant's steak house menu.
Provençal food at Oscar's
Oscar's at the Crowne Plaza in Dubai has been given a makeover, to give the restaurant a cosy, Provençal-style bistro feel, and there's also a new menu. Dishes include fish of the day with grilled fennel, tartines with Mediterranean vegetables and Provençal shrimps sautéed with tomatoes and garlic. On Tuesdays and Fridays there is a cheese and cold-cut buffet for Dh99 per person and on Thursdays you can eat mussels to your heart's content for the same price. For reservations call 800 276 963.
