Celebrity favourite, the Little Venice Cake Company is setting up shop in Dubai. The boutique bakery is set to open at The Royal Atlantis Resort on Palm Jumeirah in 2020.

Owned by Mich Turner MBE, the Little Venice Cake Company has created cakes for a host of British royals and celebrities, including Queen Elizabeth II, Emma Thompson, Sir Paul McCartney, Pierce Brosnan, Gordon Ramsay and David Beckham.

Turner's culinary creations even gave James Bond actor, Brosnan cause to describe her as the "Michelangelo of cakes".

"I am looking forward to curating a collection of beautifully designed cakes and bakes, drawing inspiration from the stunning surroundings of The Royal Atlantis, focusing on totally indulgent recipes, exquisite hand craftsmanship and a sense of fun," Turner has said of the launch. "We want to bring British red-carpet glamour to the UAE and combine this with local tastes to create a collection exclusive to the atelier."

A regular baker for the British royal family, in 2010 she was honoured with an MBE by for Services to the Catering Industry.

As well as cakes, the Little Venice Cake Company sells fine bone china afternoon tea sets, exclusively with John Lewis in the UK, and books by Turner, including Have Your Cake and Eat It. It is not clear whether these will be stocked in the Dubai outpost of the bakery.

In the UK, Turner makes bespoke creations for her clients, as well as running masterclasses, to teach budding bakers how to use her tried and tested techniques.

The Royal Atlantis Resort is set to open in the third quarter of 2020, a luxurious sister property for Atlantis, The Palm. The resort has already confirmed the opening of Dinner by British chef Heston BlumenthalAriana Bundy's Persian Kitchen and La Mar by Peruvian chef, Gaston Acurio.
