Brunch goes digital: McGettigan’s offers social-distancing-friendly Friday brunch
Guests can enjoy food and entertainment while practising social distancing
Friday brunch is a favourite pastime for many in Dubai.
However, with restaurants and cafes not currently offering dine in, some UAE establishments are getting creative to deliver their Friday lunch service to customers.
McGettigan’s has just launched what it’s calling a “Live Brunch” starting this Friday, March 27, where customers can get two-course meals delivered to their doorsteps. This will even be accompanied by a cocktail mixer package that residents can use to make their own drinks.
Of course, brunch is all about the ambience, so the Irish establishment will be playing live music from resident band Oh! from 1.30pm for three hours on Facebook Live and IGTV, while also providing a Spotify playlist for those viewers wanting to carry on with the after-party.
On the menu are starters including chicken wings, flamed grilled chicken nachos and Caesar salad, and mains include cod and chips, spaghetti bolognese and a signature burger. There’s one dessert offering of sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce. Guests can choose two courses: either a starter and a main or a main and a dessert.
They’ll even throw in pool inflatables with the package this Friday.
The “Live Brunch” is priced at Dh89 (or Dh149 for two) and can be ordered via Deliveroo or by directly calling the restaurant. It’s also available for pickup from Bonnington in JLT.
According to McGettigans, the offer will be available every Friday until customers can visit the physical branches once again.
The “home edition” of brunch comes after new preventive measures were announced by the Dubai Municipality, including the closure of restaurants, cafes and other food service establishments for two weeks starting Monday, March 23.
Restaurants at hotels and hotel apartments can provide service to guests only and food delivery services can continue on, although they are required to adhere to safety requirements.
