Food Bites: from Persian deals to live jazz dinners

Persian meal deals

Niloo's, the Persian restaurant in Meadows Village Centre, Dubai, is running two special deals this summer, with the intention of introducing customers to traditional dishes. Its Dh75 "Weeknights with Niloo's" promotion includes a joojeh kebab (minced meat with special spices) or kebab koobideh (grilled chicken pieces) served with Persian bread or salad, lemonade with mint on arrival and a soft drink during the meal. Tasty Thai samples

This isn't exactly a new deal from the Thai Kitchen at the Park Hyatt Dubai, but it is a good one, so well worth flagging up. On Wednesday evenings, you can sample an unlimited number of dishes - all served at the table, rather than buffet style - from an only slightly reduced version of the normal menu, for Dh220 per person. The grilled crab salad, shrimp toast and beef with oyster mushrooms and palm sugar dressing are particularly good. For reservations, call 04 317 2222 or 04 209 6887


Set menu at The Ivy

Following on from Jumeirah Restaurant Week, The Ivy has just launched a "Chef's Plate" menu which will run until the end of Ramadan. Top Chef judge at Atlantis

From June 21 to 23, Atlantis, The Palm will be welcoming Joe Barza, the host head judge of Top Chef Middle East to Levantine restaurant, where he will be serving Arab dishes with a bit of a twist including basterma wrap with tomato purée, freekeh with lamb and - among other desserts - osmanlieh tatin. On June 22, Barza will oversee a Top Chef cocktail night, with a seven-course set menu priced at Dh395 per person. For dining reservations or additional information call 04 426 2626.


Live jazz at Madinat

On June 21 from 7.30pm-9.30pm, Mohamed Abozekry and the Heejaz quartet will be taking to the stage at Times of Arabia restaurant in Souk Madinat Jumeirah.
