The 26th edition of the capital’s Jewellery and Watch Show (JSW) will be held at Adnec, under the patronage of the UAE’s Minister of Tolerance Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, from October 25 to 29.

In addition to celebrating all things sparkly, this year the focus is on promoting local talent, as well as celebrating the Year of Zayed. Here are some things that watch and jewellery lovers can look forward to.

Year of Zayed timepieces

Swiss watchmakers including Louis Moinet, Schwartz and Franck Muller will unveil timepieces dedicated to the Year of Zayed, which commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Founding Father. The limited-edition watches will be displayed in the Salon des Grandes Complications pavilion, along with a gallery of 20 undiscovered pictures Sheikh Zayed during his time in Switzerland.

Jewellery designs galore

Whether you want to add to your collection, pick up a precious gift or get inspired to design your own piece, the show has more than 150 regional and international jewellery houses for you to choose from. Some of the brands we’re most excited about include: Bahrain’s Al Hashimi Pearls; Istanboulli from Milan; Jaipur Gems and L Sunderdas Zaveri from India; and Yoko London.

The show also has 45 new-to-the-show brands, such as Geneva watch brand Cyrus; diamond boutique 55fifty7; David Webb New York; New Delhi’s Iris Jewels; and Onirikka Fine Jewelry that operates between El Salvador and New York.

Emirati Designer Gallery

In a bid to support and promote local jewellery designers, a dedicated showroom will display pieces from brands including Fatima Al Khoory, Baguette, Abdar Jewellery, Tanache, MAS, Wazna Jewellery, HG Jewellery and Thekrayat (see our gallery below).

Ebda’a Award 2018

Emirati jewellery artist and philanthropist Azza Al Qubaisi will host the sixth edition of the competition, which provides emerging and amateur designers with a platform to submit and receive feedback for their creations. Al Qubaisi will also conduct the Meet the Masters campaign, where she’ll interact with jewellery enthusiasts, celebrate Emirati expertise by honouring designers and brands that present the most striking pieces, and promote Abu Dhabi’s craft and design talent.

Free breast-cancer consultations

This year, JSW is collaborating with Rahma, a non-profit organisation under the Ministry of Community Development, to provide women with free consultation sessions as well as information and support, in keeping with Breast Cancer Awareness month.
