Vintage and retro looks, kitsch branding and the championing of lesser-known brands – these are just a few of the things American fashion chain Urban Outfitters is loved for.
It has more than 240 stores across the world, but none based in the Gulf. Until now.
Although no date has been set for its opening yet, it's been confirmed that the region's first Urban Outfitters shop will be launching at the Dubai Mall soon.
An Instagram account @uo_arabia has been set up, teasing us with behind-the-scenes snaps of the new branch. Each post is simply captioned: "Coming soon: #UOArabia".
News that the multi-national brand would be coming to the Gulf first broke late last year, when locally based Azadea Group announced a partnership.
At the time of the announcement, Azadea Group's chief executive Said G Daher said: "As there continues to be a high demand for experiential concepts, we believe Urban Outfitters will be very well received by our customers across the MENA region." The company already locally manages international brands such as Bershka, Mango and Salsa, plus plenty more. This also includes Missguided, the popular UK fashion brand that recently set up shop at The Dubai Mall.
Urban Outfitters stocks a range of on-trend women's and men's clothes and accessories, as well as beauty products, lingerie and vintage items. It's well-loved among fashionable hipsters and A-listers – the brand's celebrity fans include the likes of Keira Knightley, Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez, to name just a few.
