The Indian designer has been accused of falsely trying to take credit for Padukone's entire wedding look
Sabyasachi offers 'clarification' about Deepika Padukone wedding wardrobe
Indian designer and Bollywood bridalwear favourite Sabyasachi has had to post a clarification on Instagram after being accused of trying to falsely take credit for Deepika Padukone’s wedding sari.
Having claimed that Padukone was a “head-to-toe Sabyasachi bride”, the designer was forced to backtrack, stating that the sari that she wore for her Konkai wedding ceremony was actually a gift from her mother, and originally acquired from Angadi Gelleria, Bengaluru.
“As per Konkani tradition, the bride’s saree is gifted to her by her mother for her wedding. Deepika’s wedding saree was given to us by her mother – Mrs Ujjala Padukone. We have just received information that the saree was bought from Angadi Gelleria, Bengaluru and we would like to give them due credit for the same.”
But some commentators were unimpressed by Sabyasachi’s belated admission. “I think you need to stop milking this wedding & taking all the credit,” said one. “It smacks of desperation & greed.”
