Singer Pharrell Williams will build on his long-standing relationship with Chanel, by designing a capsule collection for the French fashion brand.

Williams broke the news himself at the Chanel Cruise Replica show in Bangkok, wearing what can only be assumed is a sneak peek of the collaboration – a sunshine yellow hooded sweatshirt, embellished with the words Chanel, and Coco and double Cs, picked out in sequins. He even revealed that the name will be a play on the rhyming couplet of their respective names, Chanel – Pharrell.

This is the latest in a long line of tie-ups between the singer and the fashion house. In 2014, he appeared in the short film Reincarnation, which was created and directed by Karl Lagerfeld, and composed the soundtrack for the piece, called CC The World.

For the Metiers d'Art collection Paris-Salzburg 2014-15 campaign, Williams was chosen as one of the faces to front the visuals and, two years later, he walked as one of the models for the Metiers d'Art collection 2016-17 show in Paris. When the Gabrielle bag launched in 2017, Williams again was one of the stars of the advertising campaign, and for Chanel at Colette, in Paris last year, he customised a pair of Chanel trainers for the event.

Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until March next year to see the new collection, as it will only be unveiled at the opening of the brand’s new flagship boutique in Seoul, South Korea.
