Regular visitors to Muscat may already be familiar with Bthaina, the small but elegant label that, since 2010, has specialised in handworked kaftans, jellabiyas and abayas. Using pleating, romantic layers and delicate colours, it has managed to elegantly incorporate traditional elements into modern dressing, creating demure gowns that wouldn’t look out of place at the most glamorous of parties.
Now it has branched out and is debuting its first ever collection of shoes. There are six different slides and all are embellished in warm gilt tones. They also make good use of the traditional Omani craft techniques that the brand is so dedicating to preserving.
Intricate knot-work and dense stitching, as well as handworked frogging and bevelled crystals, feature heavily, making each shoe the perfect complement to any look, from an evening dress to boyfriend jeans.
