On her first day in the UAE, Ivanka Trump, US President Donald Trump’s daughter and adviser, chose to wear a piece by Emirati brand, Layeur.
Seen walking through Jumeirah Al Naseem Hotel, Trump was wearing Layeur's Keys design, a long sleeve tiered maxi dress. The metallic silk piece has a belted waist and contrasting panels on the neckline and sleeves. It retails at Dh3,270 on The Modist.
The Keys design also comes in a tunic style top, and in a yellow and white striped design.
Trump is in Dubai to speak at the Global Women's Forum, which will take place over two days from Sunday, February 16 at Madinat Jumeirah. Also speaking is former British Prime Minister Theresa May.
Wearing regional designs is clearly a very deliberate style decision by Trump. In November last year, she visited Morocco on an official visit to promote women's empowerment. During her time in the North African country, she wore a two-piece suit by Moroccan designer Fadila El Gadi.
As part of her visit, Trump has visited the Louvre Abu Dhabi, where she studied the museum's Gilbert Stuart Portrait of George Washington. She is also is scheduled to visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque on Saturday afternoon.
