While nearly all of Hollywood seems to be in Canada this week for the Toronto International Film Festival, not every A-lister has decamped across the border.

A hearty roster has also flown across the Atlantic for the annual Deauville American Film Festival, which is held in a seaside resort in France’s Normandy region.

From Johnny Depp and Mark Rylance to Sophie Turner, Catherine Deneuve and Geena Davis, stars of the screen have flocked to the destination to attend screenings of films including thriller Heavy and drama Waiting for the Barbarians.

The festival, which launched on Friday, September 6 and runs until Sunday, September 15, celebrates some of America's most thought-provoking films, from Hollywood blockbusters to independent offerings.

The event is now in its 45th year, is also hosting an eight-day-long screening of every episode of Game of Thrones, while French film legend Deneuve is heading up the main competition jury.
