It officially kicked off on Thursday with a glitzy, star-studded opening ceremony, but the Cairo International Film Festival isn't slowing things down any time soon.
The cinematic celebration, which is taking place in the Egyptian capital until Friday, November 29, hosted several screenings over the weekend, putting Arab cinema firmly in the spotlight.
Among the showcases was a premiere for A Son, the debut feature film from Tunisian director Mehdi M Barsaoui.
The event was attended by the filmmaker, as well as the drama's lead actress, Najla Ben Abdallah, and Wahed Saheh star Rania Youssef.
Abdallah, who plays a mother thrown into a complex situation with her husband after their son is shot and critically wounded, sported a sleek, one-shouldered black gown for the screening, while Youssef also turned to an LDB.
Saudi filmmaker Shahad Ameen's Scales, about an Arab tribe that hunts mermaids for food, also screened over the weekend, as part of the Arab Cinema Competition.
The film festival's jury for the competition, which includes actress Shereen Reda, also turned out for the event.
Rounding out the weekend's A-list screenings was Najwa Najjar's Between Heaven and Earth, the Palestinian director's divorce drama that played in the International Competition.
Actress Ingi Abou Zeid walked the red carpet in a Deana Shaaban creation, featuring a printed bodice and rich blue skirt that softly draped over one shoulder.
Engy Wegdan, Rania Mansour, Nesreen Amin, Bushra and Mariam El Khosht also attended the star-studded screening; swipe through the gallery below to see what they wore:
Yasmin Raeis, meanwhile, wrapped up in a checked coat with a leather collar.
Also donning their red-carpet best on Thursday was Dorra Zarrouk: the Tunisian actress changed into a fringed gown for the opening ceremony's after-party.
The design, by Lebanese label HassIdriss, gave a nod to the style of 1920s flappers, but in an utterly modern colour palette and silhouette.
