This year, the Met Gala's Gilded Glamour theme honoured New York's 19th century golden age between 1870 and 1890, with full Regency-style dresses expected on the red carpet. However, a host of the A-list names in attendance took the gilded theme literally, dressing in head-to-toe gold.
The likes of Khloe Kardashian, Camila Mendes and Amber Valletta all shimmered their way down the red carpet in golden gowns.
Moschino seemed to be the fashion house behind many of the golden looks. The label dressed Kardashian, as well as Megan Thee Stallion, Michaela Jae Rodriguez and Ariana DeBose, who was co-ordinated with designer Jeremy Scott in a black and gold design.
Also in black and gold looks were Lizzo, who was wearing Thom Browne, and Carey Mulligan, in Schiaparelli.
Indian businesswoman Natasha Poonawalla wore a golden sari for the event. The handcrafted, printed tulle sari was designed by Sabyasachi, embroidered with silk floss thread and embellished with bevel beads, semi-precious stones, crystals, sequins and appliqued printed velvet, according to the fashion house. Poonawalla's sari was worn with an ornate golden Schiaparelli corset.
Dee Hilfiger, wife of American designer Tommy Hilfiger, wore a custom gold lamé strapless corset gown designed by her husband. The environmentally friendly piece was created using vintage deadstock fabric - rolls of material left unsold.
Even Kim Kardashian's vintage Jean-Louis look befit the gilded theme. The look, which was initially created for Marilyn Monroe in the 1960s, is translucent and embellished with more than 6,000 crystals, ensuring it shines on the red carpet.
The gown was first worn by Monroe when she sang Happy Birthday, to US president John F Kennedy, in 1962.
