The Yas Pet Festival is returning for the second year. Taking place on Friday, February 14 at du Arena from 1pm to 9pm, the popular event features activities to celebrate both dogs and cats. From the same organisers as the Abu Dhabi Pet Festival, this event will focus more on pet and owner interaction.
Similar to other festivals in the past, this year will see a dog agility competition, pets fashion show and cat and dog competitions. There will also be a pet and owner fancy dress competition, as well as a K9 Unit and petting farm on hand.
Guests are welcomed to come with or without pets. For those looking for something to munch on during the event, there will be food and market stalls. Pet accessories and treats will also be on sale. Pet wellness brands will also promote their products.
Here’s what you need to get in with your pet
All pets must be registered at the entrance. They must also have a valid pet passports or a letter from a reputable veterinary clinic showing vaccinations have been carried out within the last two years.
Cats should be carried in cat carriers at all times. Dogs will need to be on short leash – extendable or retractable leashes are not permitted.
Dogs entering the venue will be assessed at the entrance for aggressiveness, with coloured ribbons to be placed around their necks: red for aggressive, green for even temperament and yellow for friendly.
Only dog breeds and pets permitted under UAE Animal Welfare Laws will be admitted into the festival. Click here for the full list of banned breeds.
For those interesting in registering their pets for competition, they can obtain the rules and regulations by emailing petmemagazine@gmail.com. The registration fees are Dh100 per cat and Dh120 per dog. Each cat or dog competing must be registered at the venue between 1pm-2pm.
