It can be an emotionally fraught topic among new mothers, with many fearful of breastfeeding in public due to embarrassment. However, one of the region's biggest stars has shared a refreshingly intimate image in a bid to break any stigma around the act.

Nancy Ajram welcomed her third child earlier this month, a daughter named Lya, and has offered a peek at the newborn in a recent social media post. In a candid portrait, the Lebanese singer is seen feeding the weeks-old baby on a chair, gently stroking her daughter's cheek.

In an emotive caption, the Hassa Beek star revealed that "breastfeeding has always been one of the most beautiful experiences in my life".

"For me it's the most powerful way to bond with Lya and make her feel safe, loved and cared for," Ajram, 35, added. "There is nothing more natural and right than what Mother Nature decided for us to do."

It's just the second look fans have had at the singer's latest addition to her brood, after Ajram shared a photo of Lya's tiny feet shortly when she was first born.

"Another gift from God and a new ray of light has entered our home! My beautiful Lya, I can't wait for us to walk together your journey and promise to be there for you at all time," wrote Ajram, as she announced the birth.

"You were anticipated, loved, cherished and wanted. Now that I'm holding you in my arms those feelings have multiplied tenfold."

The singer also has two elder daughters with her dentist husband Fadi El Hachem; Mila, born in 2009, and Ella, born in 2011.

Ajram joins other stars such as Olivia Wilde, Chrissy Teigen, Gisele Bundchen and Liv Tyler who have shared breastfeeding photos in recent years in a bid to help break down barriers.
