Firework displays are set to take place across the UAE to celebrate Eid Al Adha.

The holiday is the most important festival for Muslims and begins on the 10th day of Dhu Al Hijjah, the 12th and final month of the Islamic calendar.

Eid Al Adha in the UAE began on Monday.

UAE residents will receive almost a week off to mark the occasion, with the holiday beginning with a day off for Arafat Day. It marks the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage and the day before Eid Al Adha.

There will be a further three days off for Eid, taking the holiday up to Thursday, July 22.

To mark the occasion, the skies above Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah will be lit up with a number of free pyrotechnic displays and LED light shows.

Here is where you can see fireworks for Eid Al Adha in the UAE.

Yas Island

Yas Marina will be celebrating Eid Al Adha with a spectacular fireworks display starting at 9pm from the Yas Bay waterfront.

The event will also be live-streamed on Yas Island’s social media channels for everyone to enjoy virtually, as gatherings are prohibited under the island’s Covid-19 precautionary safety measures.

For guests staying at hotels on the island, a green pass on the UAE Al Hosn app will need to be shown and mandatory face scan screening will be conducted at the theme parks.

Sharjah

Majaz Waterfront

To mark the occasion, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has announced a fireworks show at Al Majaz Waterfront on the first day of Eid Al Adha. Visitors can expect three minutes of pyrotechnics at 8pm, overlooking Khalid Lagoon.

Those who visit the waterfront destination between Tuesday and Friday, July 20 and 23, will also find live entertainment and stage shows, including roaming parades with artists and acrobats, celebrity impersonators, live music and more.

Aljada and Nasma Residences

There will also be fireworks at Arada’s Aljada and Nasma Residences to mark the occasion.

Starting from the first night of Eid Al Adha on Tuesday at 8pm, fireworks will continue for the next two nights at entertainment destination Madar Aljada, and lifestyle hub Nasma Central at Nasma Residences community in Al Suyouh district.

Other activities at Aljada include blockbuster film screenings during the Eid holidays, which will be shown on the UAE’s largest outdoor screen at 8:30pm shortly after the fireworks.

Dubai

Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountain

The towering Burj Khalifa in Downtown Dubai will light up for Eid Al Adha, with the Dubai Fountain display as part of the show.

From July 20 to 24, the Burj Khalifa will run a celebratory Eid Mubarak projection at 8pm following its daily LED light shows in the evenings. Afterwards, the Dubai Fountain will begin its dance.

Showtimes for the Burj Khalifa projections begin at 7:45pm and will play every 30 minutes until 10:45pm. The fountain will put on a display every hour from 6pm to 11pm. The shows can be best viewed from Dubai Mall or Souk Al Bahar.

More fireworks locations will be added as they are announced.
