Prepare to collect Dh200 when you pass go, as Dubai is getting its very own Monopoly board. A fun UAE take on the familiar game will be released this year, so expect to see all of the city's favourite landmarks, with stops in Satwa, Alserkal or Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard.

The brand new board is set to be launched officially by Hasbro on Monday, November 4, and exactly what will feature is being kept under wraps until then. However, we'd hazard a guess that the Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa and Atlantis, The Palm will all have a spot on the board.

“We are thrilled to bring the official Dubai Monopoly board game to the residents and tourists of the region. This edition will be everything you love about the traditional game, adapted in a way that Dubaians will enjoy for generations to come,”  Winning Moves, the company manufacturing the official Dubai version of Monopoly for Hasbro, has said in a statement.

"We are excited to extend our support to Hasbro with the launch of the iconic Dubai Monopoly board, a first in the region," Issam Kazim, Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing's chief executive commented.

"This internationally recognised, and much-loved family game, will not only promote the city’s diverse destination offering to a global audience, but Monopoly’s newest board will provide both visitors and residents with an exciting new way to discover the city."

The popular game first hit the shelves in 1935, and has since been played by more than one billion people, says Hasbro. It is thought that it is played in 114 countries, in over 47 different languages.

It seems that in Dubai the game will start at Atlantis, The Palm.

The hotel added in a statement, "When we heard that Mr. Monopoly was touring iconic landmarks on his debut visit to Dubai, we knew we had to be the first location on his journey. It is an absolute pleasure to welcome him to the shores of Atlantis, The Palm and we look forward to helping him tick off a few bucket-list items on his visit."

With a November 4 release, it will be out in perfect time for Christmas, so we're sure a fair few Dubai residents will find the regional version of the game under the tree this year.
