Duke and Duchess of Sussex share new photo and ask for charity donations not gifts for baby
The couple has chosen four children's charities for fans to donate to
It's only been a matter of days since the Sussex Royal Instagram was launched, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have already amounted 4.1 million followers.
The royal couple has taken to Instagram this weekend to thank fans for the Sussex Baby Shower, which took place around the world on March 31.
Along with a cute photo of the couple, they also took the opportunity to ask people not to send gifts to their unborn baby, but donate to charity instead.
"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are immensely grateful for the outpouring of love and support in anticipation of the birth of their first child," the caption read.
"In lieu of sending gifts, the couple have long planned to encourage members of the public to make donations to select charities for children and parents in need," they go on to say. "If you already made a donation, the couple send you their greatest thanks. If you are thinking about it, they ask that you kindly consider the following organisations they’ve selected, which we will highlight [on Instagram] over the next few days."
The four children's charities chosen are Lunchbox Fund, Little Village HQ, WellChild and baby2baby.
Lunchbox Fund provides hot, healthy meals to children in need; Little Village HQ collects clothes to give to impoverished children up to five years old; WellChild is the British national charity giving children and young people with serious illness the best chance to thrive at home and baby2baby provides essentials to children living in poverty under the age of 12.
The Duchess of Sussex is currently pregnant with the couple's first child. Their exact due date has not been announced but the Duchess let slip that the baby was expected in April. The baby is expected to arrive any day now.
