Infinity pools are so passé, especially if you live and swim in Dubai, where they are a dime a dozen. The emirate now have its first “floating” pool, which lies about 50 metres offshore, smack bang in the middle of the Arabian Gulf.

Accessible via a walkway through Breeze Beach Grill at Club Vista Mare on the Palm Jumeirah, the pool comes with a wraparound floating deck area, which houses sunbeds and seating for up to 75 people.

The barge is open to adults only and can also be rented out for private parties; and, let’s face it, a sundown soiree here is sure to make a lasting impression with your guests this winter.

The pool is 1.2 metres deep, 20 metres long and 10 metres wide, and is attached to the seabed using the Seaflex anchor system. “This [pool] is unique because it allows guests to choose from a fresh-water dip or salt-water swim in the Arabian Gulf, in one offshore location,” said Thorsten Ries, managing director of Nakheel Hospitality & Leisure.

Day-time entry to costs Dh200 per person, of which Dh100 is redeemable on food and drinks from Breeze Beach Grill.
