An Abu Dhabi hotel is teaming up with a global charity for a special dinner.
Yas Island’s Crowne Plaza will host a Peace Party on Friday in support of Médecins Sans Frontières, also known as Doctors Without Borders.
“It will be a special evening where people can get together for a buffet and hear some interesting speakers,” says the organiser Jessica Castelyn.
“We are happy that Crowne Plaza decided to host this evening.”
The keynote speaker for the evening is the executive director of the Médecins Sans Frontières Abu Dhabi branch, Ghada Hatim.
Based in the capital since 1992, the Airport Road office has been raising the profile of the organisation through a series of fund-raising and awareness campaigns, the next of which is a soon to be announced Dubai vertical marathon in April.
The Peace Party, held at the hotel’s terrace, is the first of its kind, which will include a peace ceremony undertaken by hotel staff.
“The staff will join together to sing a song for the event,” Castelyn says. “Then we will release white balloons into the air.”
While all operations are designed and directed from the organisation’s headquarters in Paris, Castelyn says the Abu Dhabi branch provides some operational support to humanitarian initiatives held in war-torn Iraq and Syria.
Crowne Plaza’s manager Thierry Perrot says the hotel is proud to back the fund-raising drive.
All proceeds from the Peace Party will be donated to the organisation and it will assist the delivery of emergency medical assistance to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural disasters or exclusion from health care around the world.
The Peace Party will be held on Friday at the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi on Yas Island. Tickets are Dh100 or Dh50 for children between the ages of 6 and 12. For bookings call 02 656 3053 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
