The lounger can reduce your body temperature by 2 degrees, while the mattress always remains cool to the touch
Bye-bye burns: self-cooling sunbed comes to the UAE
When British holidaymaker Jay Ventham returned with heat sores and rashes after a particularly uncomfortable encounter with a blisteringly hot sunbed, he decided to do something about it. The outdoor KoulsDown collection is the result of months of R&D and design development, and includes the world’s first-ever self-cooling sunbed.
The sunbed will launch in Dubai during the upcoming Leisure Show 2017. The special gel-lined mattress and memory foam lining means that the lounger can reduce a person’s body temperature by up to 2 degrees. “The gel is positioned in the upper layers, so it gives an instant cooling effect when laid upon. It also reacts when in contact with the body, absorbing body heat and dissipating it back out into the air, giving a pleasant, cooling feeling and relieving discomfort from over-heating,” explains Ventham.
The microfiber dry fabric also ensures that you’re not dripping for too long after a dip in the pool or ocean. The beds come in multiple colours, and other features include a hydraulic headrest, filtration holes, ratchet hinges and an interchangeable casing.
The Koulsdown outdoor furniture collection has coffee and dining tables, chairs, love seats and poster beds, which can be customised to include decorative touches such as gold-plating, Swarovski crystals, replica gemstones and waterproof ambient lighting for an evening out by the pool. Side tables come with a Bluetooth option, to connect your phone or speakers.
The Leisure Show Dubai 2017 is at Dubai World Trade Centre, from September 18 to 20, and is part of Dubai International Hospitality Week.
