There was an air of comfort and simplicity to the designs shown during H&M’s Studio collection preview this week, at Dubai’s Meydan Beach Club.

The fabrics were top quality, the cuts classic, with perfect pieces for jetsetters who require clothing that’s timeless, comfortable and wearable from season to season. My eyes were immediately drawn to a python-print pant in pastel pink, with stripes down the sides giving an edgy, athletic vibe, and a baggy blue and white button-down I’d wear over leggings for a more casual day.

Many of the pieces shown push the present pyjama style trend a step deeper, further blurring the line between sleepwear and daywear, adding cotton striped shorts and silky printed robes to the mix.

A chiffon kaftan printed with gold cacti is a definite scene-stealer, while other designs show flamingoes in flight across vibrant shades of peach and forest green. There’s also a clear tennis theme to some of the pieces, including the oversized varsity vest and recurrent athletic stripes. As well, the turtleneck has proved to be a style staple this fall, with designers like Thakoon, Derek Lam and DKNY giving their takes on the trend this past week at New York Fashion Week. H&M gives us their own versions this season in slouchy sky blue and white colours.

To complete the traveler’s touch on the collection, a pair of chic Moroccan-style slippers, available in a natural python print and maroon tie-dye design.

Prices range from Dh79 for a pair of earrings, to Dh699 for the flamingo printed robe.
