The Roads and Transport Authority has launched a free shuttle bus service to cover the partial closure of the Dubai Metro Red Line, which begins this weekend.

The free circular bus route will operate between the two closed stations: Jumeirah Lakes Towers Station and Ibn Battuta Station for ten weeks to allow construction work related to the Route 2020 project to take place.

The Metro Red Line will be closed every Friday and Saturday from July 28 to October 15 as part of the RTA’s plan to extend the Red Line to the site of the World Expo in Dubai South.

Metro commuters travelling towards the UAE Exchange station will need to get off at JLT station, board the free bus service to Ibn Battuta station and then continue their journey by metro in the direction of the UAE Exchange station.

Metro riders travelling in the opposite direction towards Al Rashidiya station must get off the metro at Ibn Battuta station, take free bus rides to JLT Metro Station and then continue their journey on the metro in the direction of Al Rashidiya station.

“This service is offered to meet the needs of public transport riders in general and metro commuters in particular between the said two stations,” said Mohammed Al Hashmi, director of Planning and Business Development for RTA’s Public Transport Agency.

“The RTA makes every effort to offer the public convenient and seamless mobility, even during exceptional conditions that require physical changes on the ground,” he said.
