Dubai rocker Nikhil Uzgare is breaking into Bollywood, after being asked to record the theme song for an upcoming movie.
The Indian singer's track will appear on the soundtrack to Iraada, a Shakespeare adaptation directed by newcomer Aparna Singh. Starring Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi, the film is set for release later this year.
Named after the movie, Uzgare’s tune is a knotty, aggressive six-minute rocker which marks a departure from typical Bollywood fare, and will go public in the run-up to the movie’s release.
Best known as the frontman of award-winning hard rock act Point of View, it marks the first time Uzgare has released music in Hindi.
Uzgare is expected to perform the song live at the Jashn E Eid concert, held at Oud Metha's Indian High School on Friday (July 8).
“It’s a new beginning for me – and there’s more where that came from,” said the 42-year-old vocalist.
