DUBAI // Whatever you do, do not waste a drop. The world’s most expensive bottle of red wine – a 12-litre bottle of Château Margaux 2009 – is going on sale in Dubai and it can be yours for a mere Dh716,235.
Just six balthazars, meaning 12-litre bottle, of the limited edition wine have been produced, with only three of those to go on sale, all from exclusive wine merchant Le Clos.
One of those bottles, which comes in its own ornate oak case and is engraved in gold, will be on display at Le Clos’ flagship store at Dubai International Airport.
The 2009 vintage, which can be aged for more than a century, is produced at the Château Margaux vineyard in the Medoc region of France, north of Bordeaux.
While it may come with a hefty price tag, the connoisseur who purchases the exclusive tipple will not just be buying what is widely reputed to be one of the best vintages ever produced by Château Margaux. The buyer will also get a first-class flight to the Château Margaux estate, where they will enjoy a private tour of the cellars and vineyard before having dinner with Paul Pontallier, chief winemaker and managing director of the estate.
