The UAE has the capacity, capability and experience to host Expo 2020.

And the UAE is calling on the experience of Dubai in hosting prominent conferences, supported by a world class infrastructure and logistical capacity, to give it an edge against the competition.

That’s the view of Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State and managing director of the higher committee for hosting World Expo 2020.

The UAE launched a diplomatic, economic and promotional campaign two years ago to win the hosting bid for Expo 2020, and the momentum has increased as decision day approaches.

Ms Al Hashemi said this could be seen in the streets of the country, and in its landmarks, towers and airports.

She said the Expo 2020 logo was visible everywhere, including on the nation’s aircraft heading all over the world.

The country’s leaders and officials are also championing the bid on their visits around the world.

The winner will be revealed on November 27 at the headquarters of the Bureau International des Expositions in Paris, where representatives of the bureau’s 167 members will cast their votes.

The other contenders are Ekaterinburg in Russia, Sao Paulo in Brazil and Izmir in Turkey.

Ms Al Hashemi’s remarks were published in Al Hayat newspaper.
