The General Civil Aviation Authority said the causes of the accident are still unknown but police are investigating.
Investigations of Dubai helicopter crash at Atlantis under way
DUBAI // A full investigation is under way by the General Civil Aviation Authority in a bid to discover the cause of Wednesday’s helicopter crash at Atlantis, The Palm hotel.
The helicopter, which was owned by Alpha Tours Dubai crashed minutes after take-off, injuring the pilot and his assistant. The two were airlifted to Rashid Hospital where one of them is said to be in critical condition.
Saif Al Suwaidi, director general of the GCAA, said the cause of was still unknown. “GCAA acquired a great deal of knowledge and experience in dealing with air accident investigation over the past years and it will utilise all this experience to secure UAE’s skies,” he said.
A spokeswoman from Atlantis, The Palm hotel confirmed that “no guests were involved in the incident”.
